Aruba's tourism authority lists December to April as the island's peak season. For airport transfers, the number that matters is the fare: the government fixes airport taxi fares by zone, and the official list shows no seasonal rate.

This guide shows what changes in peak season and what does not, how the $5 surcharge and the extras add up, and when a private transfer is the better fit. All fares are official taxi fares published 18 May 2026, checked on 2 November 2026, not Dushi Transfers prices.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Aruba's tourism authority puts peak season at December to April (aruba.com, read 1 October 2026).
  • Airport taxi fares are set by zone, from $26 to $60 for one to four passengers; the official list shows no seasonal rate.
  • A $5 surcharge applies once per trip on Sundays, holidays, 11 PM to 7 AM, and December 24 through January 1.
  • Each extra passenger or luggage piece adds $3; seven passengers is the most in one taxi.
  • A taxi needs no booking; a private transfer is booked ahead and priced by fixed quote.

QUICK ANSWER

Aruba's tourism authority puts peak season at December to April, but airport taxi fares do not change with it: the government fixes them by zone, from $26 to $60. What can add to a fare is the $5 surcharge on Sundays, holidays, nights and from December 24 to January 1. These are official taxi fares, not Dushi Transfers prices.

When peak season is

Aruba's official tourism site says the peak season runs from December to April.

According to aruba.com, the island's official tourism site, as read on 1 October 2026, the peak season in Aruba occurs from December to April. We use that source only for the dates. If you land in those months, the practical questions are what the airport taxi fare is, what can add to it, and whether to fix your ride before you fly.

Do airport taxi fares go up in peak season?

No. Airport taxi fares are set by the government by zone, and the official price list shows one fare per zone, not a seasonal rate.

Taxi fares in Aruba are fixed by the government and published at taxi.aw. The list published 18 May 2026, checked on 2 November 2026, gives one fare per zone: from $26 to Oranjestad up to $60 to Baby Beach, for one to four passengers, one taxi, one way. It lists no December-to-April rate. Look up your own zone in our Aruba taxi rates guide, or find your hotel's zone in our Aruba hotel zones guide. Every figure on this page is an official taxi fare, not a Dushi Transfers price.

  • The $5 surcharge Charged once per trip on Sundays, on official holidays, every day from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and from December 24 through January 1.

  • Extra passengers Each fare covers one to four people. Each extra passenger adds $3, up to seven in one taxi.

  • Extra luggage One piece of luggage and one backpack or handbag per passenger is included. Each additional piece is $3.

  • Minimum fare $10, even for a very short hop.

The $5 window from December 24 through January 1 is the one date-based extra that falls inside peak season. We go through that week in detail in our Christmas and New Year airport transfer guide.

A worked example

A family of six with two extra bags, landing on a Sunday or on December 26, pays $58 to Palm Beach in a taxi.

Official taxi fare from Aruba airport to Palm Beach for six people with two extra bags, in a holiday-week example
ITEMOFFICIAL TAXI FARE
Palm Beach zone fare, one to four passengers$41
2 extra passengers at $3$6
2 extra luggage pieces at $3$6
Surcharge (Sunday or December 24 to January 1)$5
Total$58

These are taxi.aw rules applied to a made-up group, to show how the extras add up. For your own group, use the fare lookup in the taxi rates guide. The same trip outside the surcharge window would be $53.

Taxi, shuttle or private transfer when you land

All three work in any month. The question is which fits your group, your bags and your arrival time.

Taxis wait at the official stand near the arrivals exit. To compare every way out of the airport in one place, see our Aruba airport transportation page, and see how Aruba taxis work for payment and tipping. Wondering about ride apps? There is no Uber in Aruba.

Planning your pickup

A taxi needs no booking. A private transfer is booked ahead, and it takes four details.

If you choose a private transfer, send us your flight number, group size, luggage and hotel, and we reply with one fixed, all-in quote. We track your flight, so a delayed landing does not leave you without a ride, and your driver waits at arrivals with a name sign. Everything that happens between the aircraft door and the taxi stand is covered in our Aruba airport arrival guide, and the timing of immigration and customs in our arrival timing guide. See our private airport transfer for what is included.

Coming back to the airport

Leave earlier than you think: the airport recommends checking in 3 hours before departure.

On departure day, the Aruba Airport Authority recommends a check-in time of 3 hours before your scheduled flight, as read on its frequently asked questions page on 20 September 2026. As stated on our home page, the drive from the hotel zones is about 15 to 20 minutes, so tell us your flight time when you book and we plan the ride around it.
