From December 24 through January 1, an airport taxi in Aruba carries a $5 surcharge on top of the zone fare. It is charged once per trip, so a $38 Eagle Beach fare becomes $43.

This guide shows the fare for every airport zone with and without the surcharge, two worked examples, and how to plan a holiday-week arrival. All fares are official taxi fares published 18 May 2026, checked on 2 November 2026, not Dushi Transfers prices.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • A $5 surcharge applies once per trip from December 24 through January 1, on top of the zone fare.
  • Airport zone fares run from $26 to $60 for one to four passengers; with the surcharge, $31 to $65.
  • Each extra passenger adds $3 (seven at most), each extra luggage piece adds $3.
  • The surcharge is per trip, not per person.
  • A taxi needs no booking; a private transfer is booked ahead and priced by fixed quote.

QUICK ANSWER

From December 24 through January 1, every airport taxi trip in Aruba carries a $5 surcharge on top of the zone fare, once per trip. An Eagle Beach fare of $38 becomes $43 for one to four passengers. These are official taxi fares, not Dushi Transfers prices.

The December 24 to January 1 surcharge

One $5 charge per trip, not per person and not per leg.

Taxi fares in Aruba are fixed by the government and published at taxi.aw. The fare conditions add a $5 surcharge once per trip on Sundays, on official holidays, every day from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and from December 24 through January 1. That window is the Christmas and New Year week, so every airport taxi ride inside it carries the $5, whatever the time of day. Aruba's tourism authority lists December to April as the peak season (aruba.com, read 1 October 2026); we cover the season as a whole in our peak season airport transfer guide.

Fares by zone in holiday week

The zone fare plus $5, for one to four passengers, one taxi, one way.

Official airport taxi fare by zone, normal and with the December 24 to January 1 surcharge
ZONEOFFICIAL TAXI FAREWITH THE $5 SURCHARGE
Oranjestad$26$31
Low-Rise hotels$37$42
Eagle Beach$38$43
Palm Beach$41$46
High-Rise South$40$45
High-Rise North$41$46
Baby Beach$60$65

Fares come from the official taxi fares published 18 May 2026, checked on 2 November 2026. Each extra passenger adds $3 (seven at most in one taxi), each extra luggage piece adds $3, and the minimum fare is $10. Find your hotel's zone in our Aruba hotel zones guide, or price your own group in the fare lookup in our Aruba taxi rates guide. None of these are Dushi Transfers prices.

Two worked examples

Two taxi.aw examples for a landing between December 24 and January 1.

Worked examples of official taxi fares from Aruba airport during the December 24 to January 1 window
TRIPCALCULATIONTOTAL
2 people to Eagle Beach, December 26$38 + $5 surcharge$43
6 people with 2 extra bags to Palm Beach, December 26$41 + $6 (2 extra passengers) + $6 (2 extra pieces) + $5 surcharge$58

The same two trips outside the window, on a weekday morning, would be $38 and $53.

Planning a holiday-week arrival

A taxi needs no booking. A private transfer is booked ahead with four details.

If you choose a private transfer with Dushi Transfers, send us your flight number, group size, luggage and hotel, and we reply with one fixed, all-in quote agreed before you fly. We track your flight, so a delayed landing does not leave you without a ride, and your driver waits at arrivals with a name sign. For what happens between the aircraft door and the taxi stand, see our Aruba airport arrival guide and the arrival timing guide. Compare every way out of the airport on our Aruba airport transportation page, and see what a private airport transfer includes.

Families and groups at the holidays

A taxi carries at most seven people, and every extra passenger and bag adds to the fare.

  • Eight or more people A taxi carries at most seven by law, so a group of eight needs two taxis and two fares, each with its own surcharge. Our Mercedes-Benz Sprinter carries up to 14 passengers together.

  • Lots of luggage Every extra piece past one per passenger is $3 in a taxi. A private vehicle is sized for your group's bags, and your driver helps with luggage.

  • Children who need car seats Tell us the ages when you book and the right seats are installed and ready.

See our group transportation page for how groups travel together.

Departing over the holidays

Leave earlier than you think: the airport recommends checking in 3 hours before departure.

On departure day, the Aruba Airport Authority recommends a check-in time of 3 hours before your scheduled flight, as read on its frequently asked questions page on 20 September 2026. The drive from the hotel zones is about 15 to 20 minutes, as stated on our home page, so tell us your flight time when you book and we plan the ride around it. Staying for New Year's Eve itself?
